Vases in Mustard Color with Golden Edge by Carlo Scarpa Seguso for Bisazza Pulegoso Di Murano, 1993

Set of two splendid Pulegoso vases. One round and the other tall. The round is lighter and the tall is a darker tone of mustard. Perfectly executed Pulegoso finish. This is the Crugiolo Pulegoso of Murano. The mouth has an external gold leaf border that is difficult to notice because it does not contrast with the background. A simply magnificent and rare set. At first I believed, given the round shape, that Bisazza had taken Carlo Scarpa’s original round shape from the 1930s. When I was able to see the pieces and the year, everything was clear. In the latter part of the 1980s there was a rediscovery of Native American arts in interior design. Specifically, Navaho products. Just as Carlo Scarpa was inspired by Japanese forms, here Bisazza has translated the art of Navaho ceramics into glass. The motif of an intense color, these orange-toned Puligosos, is part of the Seguso tradition. Colors that are not in fashion. This collection belongs to the production of Livio Seguso, created under the ownership of Bisazza for a short period in the early nineties. Livio continued his career as an artist with the freedom and free state of mind that comes from not owning a business. A path similar to that of Luciano Vistosi. Bisazza, the famous luxury mosaic company, continued the Seguso patterns through the early part of the 1990s. He then closed the kiln and continued to concentrate on his mosaic collection. His masters, Elio Raffaelli and Roberto Camozzo, continued the production of massif independently. It features the spiral Bisazza logo. The measurements listed are the tall ones: Ball height 23.5 cm (9 1/4 inches), diameter 24 (9 1/2 inches approx.) Height 29.5 cm (11 1/2 inches), diameter 25 (10 inches about).
