Walnut
Biedermeier around 1825
Dimensions: H x W x D: 84 x 106 x 55 cm
:
Three-tier piece of furniture standing on solid block feet.
The cleanly mirrored grain pattern of the walnut wood, which runs across the entire front, creates a symmetrical and harmonious appearance. The light and warm colour tone is contrasted by ebonised half-columns and the key plates in the shape of coats of arms.
The top panel is framed on three sides by an inlaid dark wood band at the corners.
Interesting facts:
In Biedermeier furniture construction, attention was paid to straight lines and a strictly cubist design style. Carefully selected and mirrored veneers provide the design of the surface. Sparingly placed columns and recessed key plates break up the two-dimensionality.
Walnut was one of the most popular woods in the early 19th century. There are great differences between the growing regions and also between the individual areas within the trunk.
The structure ranges from simple straight lines to wild and lively, the colour from light reddish to dark brown.
Condition:
Very nice restored condition with preservation of the patina. Shellac hand polish. The drawers run well, the locks work.
