Bright colors, and the floral print were staple design elements in poplar 1970s fashion popularized by the rise of countercultural movements notably the hippies. The use of light weight fabrics to form wide silhouettes revived the aesthetic dress attributes from which the 70s hippie style is arguably derivative. This maxi length dress is made of a painted striped silk chiffon that produces a blue-to-white ombré effect that is reminiscent of watercolors softly bleeding together.
