Legendary rocking chair by Niels Gammelgaard for IKEA (Axvall) from the 2000s. White lacquered metal frame with net-like seat made of upholstered elastic. Fits extremely well. Sturdy structure. Design: Niels Gammelgaard, manufacturer: IKEA. Still in beautiful condition with minimal signs of use. Width: 100cm. Depth: 110cm. Height: 88cm. Seat height: 42cm. Weight: 14kg.

This is a fully restored original version of this 1960’s iconic classic outdoor swivel chair. As you can imagine, after 60 plus years, the original finish had become matte and somewhat discoloured, so it has had a complete respray, the upholstery has been replaced with a very similar elephant cord velour fabric in orange. The mechanism which makes the two visors more easy to lift by way of strong coil springs have been meticulously remanufactured, as the originals had suffered the ravages of time and rust!
For those who haven’t seen one before, the seat can be placed in the upright position for two people to comfortably sit in sofa type position, or folded out into more of a super comfy double sun lounger. The visors can be adjusted to form a sun shade for the eyes or left fully open, and closed only when the sun disappeared for the night.
There are two swing out tables, on with a removable aluminium ashtray, the other with a holder for your glass of chilled wine!
Although designed as a garden chair, this can of course be used indoors, but be sure to measure the size of access as taking it apart and rebuilding once inside is not for the faint hearted.

The seat shell is in mass-dyed polypropylene, white. The base is in steel wire with black uprights, without padding. In the part underneath the seat there is a Vitra logo.

Excellent condition, have been sandblasted and repainted in white for outdoor use. Steel missing from the back of 3 chairs due to old oxidation. The seats are warped (due to sandblasting). Very solid and comfortable armchairs.
