A pair of ceramic boxes from the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya periods in Thailand. The blue box coming from the earlier Sukhothai period with cloudy blue geometric design and soft white glaze, these pieces were most often made for export. The brown box from the later Ayutthaya period has an olive brownish and cream glaze, floral pattern and most likely made for domestic use. Boxes differ slightly in size. They make a beautiful contrasting pair and are lovely examples of ancient Thai ceramics.
